I have organised several commercial and peer expeditions to remote areas worldwide. I have organised many skills courses, adventure weekends, and challenges within the UK.
Staff training, assessing and monitoring
Whilst working as a ‘senior instructor’ and ‘head of mountain activities, for NST and Acorn adventures respectively, part of my responsibilities included training, monitoring and assessing the activity staff. These experiences have helped to develop their ability to deliver these sessions in a structured, thought out, professional manor; providing maximized learning for the individual.

Working as an Expedition Leader has led to a much broader understanding of what it means to be a 'leader'. I am becoming proficient at the role and all that it entails. I feel confident operating in environments that require fast decision making, clear communication, delegation of tasks, working as a team, experiential learning, and providing feedback. Providing feedback
Throughout my career I have learnt to use reviewing and feedback as a tool for individual or a groups development, I have learnt to use the various forms and understand when and why they are best used and realise its importance as a method of learning. I have utilised these skills whilst employed in outdoor centres with young people and peers, when running technical skills courses, leading youth expeditions and also when coaching in clubs.

I have Led / organised several peer overseas expeditions. I have run many outdoor courses for Adults. Whilst working in senior roles in outdoor centers part of my responsibility's have been to manage, train and work with the staff team.

I have taught people as young as 4 in an outdoor education environment. The majority of my experience with young people is with ages 13-21.

Whilst working as an instructor for outward bound the majority of the community or school groups consisted of young people with behavioral difficulties. I have completed a course in 'dealing with Challenging behaviors. I find working with troubled young people particularly rewording and worthwhile.
